Teacher’s Pet

We believe education had the power the restore the diginity of the individual, their community and the society they live in. Our country has a history of denying education as a way of taking people’s humanity from them. The past is in many ways alive and with us; every child who drops out of school due to social conditions, every matric whose name does not appear in the newspaper despite having done their best, over crowed classroms, lack of resources, matrics who can’t read say the past lives on with us. To restore the people of this country we must restore education; give children the tools to see the world, to dream and live out their full lives.
Teacher’s pet is a tutoring and mentoring programme working in under resourced school and giving one on one support to high school learners. We are offering ourselves as a support to schools, teachers and learners.
Our tutors work at the pace of the learner. We offer support when the learner feels they need it most; either to help with exam preparation or help with a given subject or work with a learner on a long term basis. We offer support that is specific to the learner.
Our tutors
unemployment and education are two re-producers of most of the social challenges we have today. Teacher’s Pet deals with both. We recruit unemployed graduates to help schools in their communities. the talent, energy and resource that is in these trained youth is a waste. Many young people are desperate and growing disillusioned about their role and place in the world. We make use of this powerful resource in finding an immediate solution to the challenges facing schools.
The programme also presents an opportunity to gain the much needed experience that young graduates need and a concrete way to make a contribution to their communities. We will focus our attention of graduates who may not be able to find work.
our tutors are passionate about education and being of use to their communities.
We invite professionals to take part in this initiative and donate their time to tutoring learners. We invite organisations to encourage their employees to give back in a way that is real and immediate.
Mentorship
Our intention is to establish a long relationship of support and mentorship between our tutors and the learners. It is important that young people have someone to look to as they leave school and enter a whole new phase of their lives.
Together with the official material we encourage learners to read and discover a love for reading, the world and asking questions about the world they live in. We will not only tutor learners but mentor them to strive to do better.
Our team will assist the learners set up their plans for the years ahead, providing them information about their opportunities for further learning.

Hi there! This sound like a wonderful initiative and I would like to be part of it, as a tutor.
Please let me know if there are students in the Midrand or surrounding areas that I can help.
